The Glocknerhof model flight school was founded over 40 years ago. The range of flight courses and aircraft used has been continuously expanded and adapted to the increasing requirements of the student pilots. The most important thing is still:

We offer various flight courses with fixed wing models and helicopter: Intensive courses and XXL courses for gliders and motor pilots, a number of special courses, slope flight seminars directly on the slope and helicopterfor beginners and advanced and also special scale flight.
Marco Duregger, our popular glider tow pilot, is the model flight instructor at Glocknerhof. The courses are designed flexibly in order to be able to respond well to the individual wishes of the guests. Especially the “maiden flight service” and the “private flying lessons” for fixed-wing models and for helicopters fall into the new concept. The Glocknerhof also offers building seminars, repair & model building service and model flying in winter.
News from the model flight school
The flight school at the Glocknerhof has existed for over 40 years. In 2019, it was taken over by Marco Duregger. With his expertise, Marco can help any model airplane pilot with their hobby. This includes training with gliders, powered aircrafts and helicopters, as well as model building services for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. In the area of fixed-wing flight, the fleet from Multiplex can be tested during lessons. As a special highlight, the multiple world champion Gernot Bruckmann will offer an aerobatics training for gliding and motorized flight with us in April.

RC Model trial flights
every week free of charge
Weekly (usually on Monday afternoons), free trial model flight sessions are held at the archery range below the hotel. Thereby interested people can try model flying during a joint flight with flight instructor Marco. If you have a taste for it, you can book a private lesson or join a model flying course, for example. We will be happy to advise you.
Anyone can learn model flying!
A common hobby
Our flight courses are perfectly suitable for adults as well as for children and seniors. A parent or guardian must always be present when children are being trained. A course place can also be taken by an adult with a child together.
Flight training takes place at our model airfield (2 minutes from the hotel) from March to October, usually from Monday to Friday. Some trainings can also take place in winter. The best way to do this is to contact us.
How the flight courses run
Gliders, motor planes and helicopter
With flight instructor Marco you will learn model flying without stabilization and other aids. The school’s own models are flown by the students without any risk. Flight instructor Marco trusts his playful method to proceed practically and quickly. The theory is taught while flying. If you do not yet own a flight model, we will be happy to advise you. This saves you time and money.
Maximum success
You book the desired course. The flight instructor will test your skills and discuss your individual training program with you. The flight models are used according to the ability of the student pilot. If necessary, we will switch to more sophisticated models during the flight course. This means that the student pilot is always challenged and maximum training success is achieved. Any stick assignment is possible.

Flying outside the flight school
We do not recommend operating model aircraft without first gaining some experience and obtaining model aircraft liability insurance. We recommend Austrian pilots to take out the insurance with the Austrian Aero Club. If you would like to fly on our airfields outside of the model flight courses – i.e. without an instructor – liability insurance is required, among other things. All rules and specifications can be found here.
Special trainings and services
helicopter-training
helicopter can also be learned at the Glocknerhof: Courses and individual lessons for beginners and advanced pilots up to scale flying are possible with 700 and 550 electric helicopters. Training sessions are held weekly Monday through Friday throughout the year and are customized to the student’s ability.
Hill Soaring Workshop
Hill Soaring Workshops take place in spring and in autumn at the Rottenstein hill soaring area. You will learn slope gliding, gain practical experience and learn important tips and tricks. Own gliders should be brought – whether pure glider or motor glider does not matter. The seminars are aimed at pilots who have mastered a standard flight model on the level and would like to dedicate themselves to the topics of slope flying & thermals.
Aerobatics training with Gernot Bruckmann
Train with the world champion
The multiple world champion Gernot Bruckmann offers a special training for motor aerobatics and glider aerobatics at the Glocknerhof. For four days, the professional will be at your side with his experience and his aircraft hangar as a model flight instructor.
RC Building Workshop
In this seminar you will learn how to build model airplanes. Each course participant builds his own RC airplane during the week. The models are built in wooden construction and covered with foil. The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of making and repairing model airplanes. Depending on the progress of construction, the models can be flown in with the flight instructor.
