RC Model flight helicopter at Glocknerhof
Learn how to fly a RC helicopter the right way from the beginning. Training is conducted with 700 and 550 electric helicopters. In addition to the correct handling of the helicopter, the course content also includes theory and flight-mechanical principles of helicopter. The training program is individually adapted to the pilot’s ability and may therefore differ from the course description.
Helicopter Training
Classes are held from March to October, from Monday to Friday at the hovering place. Please arrive no later than the day before the course. During glider towing weeks in the spring and fall, there will be no helicopter and no flying at the hover site.

Training takes place on 5 days (Monday to Friday) with a maximum of 2 students alternating. Each student makes 4 flights a day of about 6 minutes each. The rest of the day is at leisure. General info about the flight school you can find under model flight school.
The courses include
Prices are per student per course and include: Rental helicopters, remote controls, flight instructor, repairs, insurance and taxes. For hotel guests of the Glocknerhof the use of the course is already included. In case of bad weather, only the flights that have taken place will be charged. Subject to change without notice.
1. Helicopter Basic course € 505
No basic knowledge required.
At the basic course you will learn proper take-off, landing and targeted hovering. You will learn to control the helicopter in motion flight and safe landing. Handling, theory and flight mechanics principles are also taught.
2. Helicopter Advanced € 545
Prerequisite: hovering, safe takeoff and landing, easy round trip flight.
Learning to fly safely in circles, figure of eight and axis correction, landing in emergency situations, hovering in all four directions. Depending on the skill of the pilot, basic acro and turning maneuvers can be incorporated.
3. Helicopter Scale Flight Training € 585
Prerequisite: Safe round trip, safe takeoff and landing.
You will learn to control your scale helicopter in such a way that the flying style is indistinguishable from the original helicopter. That means no “steep-wall-turn-immediately-around” turn and no “tail-to-tail” landing. Cargo flights can also be trained.
4. Helicopter Single Lesson € 101 / € 109 / € 117
Duration: minimum 1 hour, assembly and disassembly included
The flight instructor is flexible with advice and support. For beginners and advanced, also scale flight possible. Billing according to difficulty. Depending on the effort and duration, about 3 to 4 flights per hour are possible.

Here you can book rooms or send us a request. Please book the helicopter at the same time or let us know your interest in the helicopter under comments (date + course request). At short notice on site your desired date could already be booked.
Flying outside the flight school
We do not recommend operating model aircraft without first gaining some experience and obtaining model aircraft liability insurance. We recommend Austrian pilots to take out the insurance with the Austrian Aero Club. If you would like to fly on our airfields outside of the model flight courses – i.e. without an instructor – liability insurance is required, among other things. Training with RC aircrafts
Gliding and motorized flying can also be learned at the Glocknerhof: Courses and individual lessons for beginners and advanced pilots are available with RC aircrafts of all sizes. Training sessions are held weekly from Monday to Friday throughout the year.
Hill Soaring Workshop
The slope flight seminars take place on certain dates in spring and autumn on 4 afternoons directly at the house slope Rottenstein. The aim is to learn how to hang glide, gain practical experience and learn important tips and tricks from an experienced pilot. Own gliders should be brought – whether pure glider or motor glider does not matter. The seminars are aimed at pilots who have mastered a standard flight model on the level and would like to dedicate themselves to the topics of slope flying & thermals.
Aerobatics training with Gernot Bruckmann
Train with the world champion
The multiple world champion Gernot Bruckmann offers a special training for motor aerobatics and glider aerobatics at the Glocknerhof. For four days, the professional will be at your side with his experience and his aircraft hangar as a model flight instructor.
RC Building Workshop
In this seminar you will learn how to build model airplanes. Each course participant builds his own RC airplane during the week. The models are built in wooden construction and covered with foil. The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of making and repairing model airplanes. Depending on the progress of construction, the models can be flown in with the flight instructor.
